Hierarchical mergers
WebSo, hierarchical mergers up to 3g−3g can occur from the most overmassive GCs if and only if the natal spins of BH are extremely small (e.g. Fuller & Ma 2024). However, the highest generation mergers due to GCs always occur after the bound BBH is ejected from the cluster (Rodriguez et al. 2024). Web8 de mar. de 2024 · Star clusters (SCs) and active galactic nuclei (AGNs) are promising sites for the occurrence of hierarchical black hole (BH) mergers. We use simple models …

Web1 de nov. de 2024 · Hierarchical mergers at traps in AGNs will exhibit black hole spins (anti)aligned with the binary's orbital axis, a distinct property from other hierarchical channels. Our results suggest, although not definitively (with odds ratio of ∼1), that LIGO's heaviest merger so far, GW170729, could have originated from this channel. Web19 de abr. de 2024 · Under a wide range of assumptions, hierarchical mergers produce (i) a monotonic increase of the average of the typical total spin for merging binaries, which …
Web30 de jan. de 2024 · Using B-POP, we explore how BH formation channels, star cluster evolution, hierarchical mergers, and natal BH properties affect the population of BBH mergers. We find that the primary mass distribution of BBH mergers extends beyond M 1 ≃ 200 M ⊙ , and the effective spin parameter distribution hints at different natal spins for … Web7 de mar. de 2024 · We find that the hierarchical model is preferred over an alternative model with no hierarchical mergers (Bayes factor B >1400) and that GW190521 is favored to contain two second-generation black ...

WebWe run 12 different simulations, varying the mass of galaxies, type of galaxies, and initial population of black holes. We find that not all nuclear star cluster are excellent for hierarchical mergers. Small escape velocity in lighter nuclear star clusters and long dynamical timescales in heavier nuclear star clusters stops hierarchical mergers.
